Prof. Dr. Dr. med. Thomas Philipp

Prof. Philipp is director emeritus of the Clinic for Internal Medicine at Essen University Hospital and a founding member of Preventicum. He was chair of Internal Medicine at Essen University Hospital from 1988 to 2007. Concurrently, he served as director of the Clinic for Renal and Hypertensive Disorders at Essen University Hospital, where he set up one of today’s leading centers for liver and kidney transplants. He sat on the board of the German Hypertension League for many years, as well as being a member of the German Society of Nephrology and the German Society of Internal Medicine.

Prof. Philipp is author and co-editor of various medical journals, such as the Journal of Renal and Hypertensive Disorders, Clinical Nephrology, and others. He has received several awards and honors, including the Boehringer Ingelheim Award, the Franz Gross Award and an honorary doctorate from Nizhny Novgorod. At Preventicum, Prof. Philipp dedicates himself to patient examinations involving his areas of expertise: renal and hypertensive disorders, clinical immunology and transplantation medicine.
